Snow Day

Since we were sort of snowed in today I had to get creative on entertainment. First I got out odd toys from before Christmas. Then this afternoon I got really creative and made my own play doh. I remember my momma making it for us when I was growing up. As soon as it got warm I remembered the smell. I loved the way it smelled growing up. I find it interesting how a small smell brings back so many memories.

I let Carter pick out the colors and off we went playing (actually he played and I picked up toys from the day). As he was playing he looked at me and said I yike that smell. He is a kid after my own heart!

My pictures are out of order but if you look at them backward they are perfect.

Discovery Center

Being a mommy is so much fun! I try to find us new and fun things to do every week. I want Carter to experience as much as I can find for him. This week we went to the Discovery Center. It was so much fun and very little kid friendly. They had an owl exhibit which was creepy. His little friend E went with us. He loves her. They hold hands and love playing together. Carter is quit the gentleman. When we went for lunch there was one of those giant indoor play sets. Carter & his little friend weren't quit tall enough to get to the next level but being the little man that he is he got down on all fours and let little E use him as a step. Then she reached down and pulled him up. I was very proud of my little man.

Every week we go down to our local library and hunt for new books to read. Last week we came across a book by Dr. Seuss called Gerald McBoing Boing. I had never heard of it. Way cute! We read it so much I rechecked it for this week. Come to find out there is a cartoon after this book. I have been recording it. Carter will sit and watch this this cartoon without moving.

We played out as much as possible this week because today it's blowing snow. 70 yesterday and blizzard today! The picture to the right is Carter winking at E. His newest little trick (the winking)!

Poor Cat

Another week closer to spring and it snowed. I can't wait for warmer weather. I went shopping today and only bought Carter summer clothes. It was so much fun. I think we should have another baby shower so we don't have to furnish and entire season of clothes to be worn for only acouple of months.
This is a picture of Carter with Grandma's cat. Poor kitty! He sat there as long as he could handle it then went and found a quiet place.

Ambassador of the Year

We have had a busy couple of weeks. Last night Chris received the Ambassador of the Year Award from our Chamber of Commerce. He is getting more and more involved in our community. I am so proud of you Chris! It was fun to get dressed up and go out. I'm not as social as Chris is but I do enjoy going and seeing everyone.

Finally!

So Carter got a golf cart from Papa Jeff & Grandma Paula for Christmas. He has completely ignored it for the last 2 1/2 months. Seriously won't even look at the thing! But he had a break through the week. I guess since he conquered potty training he thought it was time to give the golf cart a chance. When we got home from the park this week, I asked him if he wanted to sit in it, as I do every time we are in the garage, this time he said OK. I pulled it out and off he went. He now has a new sense of freedom. He begs to ride it now. He definitely has a heavy foot. He hasn't mastered steering, yet! I know the neighbors sit and laugh at me as I'm running away from a 2 year old in a golf cart. The only bad incident with the golf cart was that after riding it for a good hour the front wheel just fell off. It wasn't Carters driving that broke it. I guess when Chris put it together he may have left out some parts. It was only down for awhile then off he went again.

Thanks Grandma Paula and Papa Jeff for the new wheels!

Potty Trained

Well Carter is officially potty trained. I think it just clicked one day and no more diapers! Actually Carter asked me for a swing set one day (3 weeks ago). I told him we couldn't buy diapers and a swing set. That was the last diaper he had on. I'm really proud of him. Everything he does he is great at. Now the pressure is one he wants a "park" in his backyard.

It has been so warm the last couple of days we have been hanging out at the park and loving it! I love when the seasons change. Carter is old enough now he can climb up and slide all by himself. He also loves playing with all of his cousins. Although, he does play alone at the park a lot of the time he loves having them there with him.

Day at the museum

Today we met up with our cousins & my grandma to go the museum. I haven't been there since I was probably 14. It was nice to get out and do something that we normally don't go and do. Ever since we went to Red River Carter has been wanting to see more dinosaurs. On the way to Red River we drove through Clayton, NM which has two dinosaurs as you enter the town. I should find out why but I haven't. So we made plans to go to the museum and see the dinosaurs. It was really fun there. They had several things that the kids could touch and play with and several things they thought they could play with. The dinosaurs looked smaller to me now but were still huge. It's funny how things get smaller when you get older.

Red River , NM

We just got back from a couple of days in Red River, NM. We had such a great time. We went with our friends Clint, Keri and Hunter. We rented a condo which was great with little ones. They could run around and have all sorts of fun. I was ready to see how Carter would act with a bunch of snow. The getting ready with all the snow gear was not his cup of tea but he loved playing in all of the snow. Chris, Carter and I walked up the road a bit to find a good sledding spot. I make Chris test it out for us. As he took his first run Carter yelled at him not to hit the tree. He was very observant! I got Carter's first sledding adventure on video then they got mine. Yeah, not very graceful. My video should be labeled what happens when your not sitting on a sled very well. We had so much fun. We also went tubing on the ski slope. I didn't think that I would really like it but it was a blast!

Overall I think our winter vacation was a hit. We will defiantly have to go back again!

He's Two

I honestly can't believe that Carter is 2. It seemed the 6 years before him lasted 10. Now the past 2 have flown by. I remember sitting in the room that was going to be his and packing for him before he was born. I really think I remember every little detail about our precious little baby while we were waiting to come home with him. I actually remember it like it were last week.

Carter has been the biggest blessing to both of us. He brings us so much joy everyday. The first thing he says every morning is "I love you most, Mommy"! We are so lucky that God specifically put him in our hearts and home. He is a perfect fit!

I think I would have waited twice as long for him if it meant one day he was going to be ours.

I Carter had a great birthday! I took him to get his pictures taken and he was so funny I was almost embarrassed. The lady asked him to say cheese. He looked at her and said No, I say booger. At first I just looked at my precious two year old in amazement. It was such a proud moment when your child talks to a complete stranger in a full sentence up until this moment he only talked to us and close family. Very photogenic pictures!

I had to make his birthday cake this year since it fell on a holiday not one bakery was open. I took me some time but I think it turned out pretty well. Carter got a Cho Cho Train for his special day so I make him a Cho Cho Train Cake. We had such a great day celebrating Carter all day. Lolly make him a superman cape with goggles. The best surprise of the day was from Aunt Nay Nay (Rene) and Uncle Shannon...two fish. I was shocked I didn't see that happening. Carter loves them. He has named them Kermit & Ted. I think Kermit & Ted are going to be a great part of our family as long as I don't have to touch them.
